Welcome Message from President of SICE

To all participants and distinguished guests of SICE FES 2025,

On behalf of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers (SICE), it is my great pleasure to welcome you to SICE FES 2025 here in Chiang Mai.

SICE has been undergoing a transformation in recent years. Behind the scenes of our well-ordered society lies an essential foundation—the so-called "control technology"—that quietly supports its functioning. SICE is a society dedicated to building and advancing that foundation. Traditionally, we have taken pride in our role as an unseen supporter. However, in today’s world—where various intellectual technologies are advancing at an unprecedented pace—SICE must not only maintain social order but also take an active role in guiding humanity toward the directions it aspires to pursue.

To this end, SICE has redefined its essence as: the pursuit and construction of common methodologies for skillfully managing both "things (MONO)" and "phenomena (KOTO)"; the creation of new concepts, methods, and theories; and the continuous development of human talent capable of putting them into practice. We refer to the dynamic totality of these activities as "SICE," and the academic framework arising from them as "SAISU-GAKU (the study of "SICE-ology")". Our aim is to become a leading society that actively shapes better social systems through this SAISU-GAKU.

Building such a SAISU-GAKU requires incorporating the latest research from a wide variety of fields and developing methodologies that dismantle the invisible walls between different SICE communities. To achieve this, in 2024 we renamed the traditional SICE Annual Conference to the SICE Festival with Annual Conference (SICE FES), proposing a structure that keeps the Annual Conference at its core while inviting people from surrounding domains in a borderless manner. In September 2025, here in Chiang Mai, we are hosting the second SICE FES—enhancing the festival spirit and bringing this vision closer to completion.

At SICE FES 2025, we hope all participants will find many opportunities to engage in active discussions and exchanges of ideas on both social challenges and academic themes, all in the spirit of building SAISU-GAKU.

In closing, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Organizing Committee and all related parties for their tremendous efforts in making this event possible. I also extend my thanks to the plenary speakers, session chairs, and all presenters for their outstanding contributions, as well as to the many companies whose generous support and cooperation have been invaluable.

I wish you an enjoyable and fruitful time at SICE FES 2025, and a memorable stay in Chiang Mai.
