Abstract

We have developed a solution that enables the performance analysis and optimal design of multicopter type small drones that meet various mission profiles named CLOUDS (Conceptual Layout Optimization of Universal Drone Systems) and verified its hovering time prediction capability. Even though similar research has been carried out in the past, as far as the authors know CLOUDS is the first solution capable of not only performing performance analysis for all flight regimes such as climb, descent, hovering, and forward flight, but also optimal design based on mission profile.
